ශ්‍රී ලංකා ප්‍රාචීන භාෂෝපකාර සමාගම
The history of Sri Lanka Oriental Studies Society is more than one hundred years. Many educated and intelligent priests and lay scholars went to the society from here.
Western knowledge developed in this country during the Portuguese, Dutch and English rule but the spread of oriental languages and philosophy was very low. Also there was no suitable education system for it.
ශ්‍රී ලංකා ප්‍රාචීන භාෂෝපකාර සමාගම පිහිටුවා මේ වන විට ශතවර්ෂාධික ව ඇත. උගත් බුද්ධිමත් ගිහි පැවිදි පඬිරුවන් විශාල පිරිසක් දැයට දායාද කරන්නට ලැබීම සමාගම ලද විසල් ජයග්‍රහණයකි.
පෘතුගීසි, ලන්දේසි මෙන් ම ඉංග්‍රීසි හා බටහිර ජාතීන්ගේ බලාධිකාරය යටතේ ගෙවී ගිය අතීතයේ දී බටහිර භාෂා ශාස්ත්‍රයන්ට දොරටු විවර වූවා මිස පෙරදිග භාෂාවන් හා ආගම දර්ශනය හසුරුවන්නට ව්‍යාප්ත කරන්නට ලැබුණු ඉඩකඩ සීමිත විය. මේ සඳහා විධිමත් අධ්‍යාපන ක්‍රමවේදයක් ද නො තිබිණි.
